The Oslo Ukulele Festival has free entrance and is open to everyone.
1. FESTIVAL AREA
This year we have performances on one stage on the great concert day, Saturday June 22nd. See the attached illustration for an orientation of the festival area.
2. GETTING THERE
The festival venue address is Gjerdrums vei 12, Oslo. The festival is situated by the river Akerselva. It is about a 7-8 minute walk from the Nydalen metro station. Metro lines 4 (direction Vestli) and 5 (direction Ringen) both stop at Nydalen. Buses line 30 and 37 also stop near the metro station. Driving here is not advised as parking is very limited.
3. CRASH COURSE
Both Friday and Saturday you can participate in ukulele crash courses enabling you to participate in the ukulele jams. Sign up on our website or at the info stand no later than 10 minutes before. NOK 100 to participate and an additional NOK 50 to rent an ukulele. We have a great music teacher Celine Engh who will give you a kick-start to your ukulele playing. Limited spaces assigned on a first-come-first-served basis.
Bring your ukulele and play along! Chords and lyrics will be presented on a big screen for everyone to see. UkuleleStine and a group from Oslo Ukuleleorkester will host the session, with steady comping and skilled singers. There are songs suited for both beginners and more advanced player. If you can´t keep up the whole jam, don’t worry! Sing along or just listen. Chord-sheet for both C- and D-tuners are available at the info stand.
5. PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH
There will be a program specially aimed at children and youth at the festival, Saturday at 11:15-13:45. There will be more activities like “design your own ukulele” and make Hawaiian flower for your hair with good educators present. There will be two free ukulele courses, one for the age group 6-9 years and one for the age group 10-14 years. Inside Rause Retter Spiseri there will be a musical performance “The journey on the back of a turtle” for those between 0-5 years and on the main stage there will be a youth concert with young talents!
6. OPEN MIC
On Saturday evening there will be a open mic session on the main stage. You can sign iin the info tent from Friday evening. Each artist/group will be assigned up to 5 minutes on stage. Slots are assigned on a first-come-first-served basis.
7. FOOD AND DRINKS
Rause Retter Spiseri will provide food and drinks for the festival. They have delicious homemade food for both lunch and dinner. Also great coffee, wonderful baked goods and good selection of beer and wine! You can pay by card, cash or Vipps. Rause Retter is open: 08-22 on Friday, 12-22 on Saturday and 12-19 on Sunday.

On Saturday from 14:00 there will be stands at the festival area where you can see, try and buy instruments and ukulele-related products. This year’s stand is: Fun with ukulele (Elisabeth Thormodsrud), Nordic ukulele (Marcus Roos) and UkuleleStine (Stine Lindseth).
Win great prizes in our lottery! Support the festival and get the opportunity to take home a ukulele or other great prizes. You can buy tickets using Vipps or at the Info stand. The draw will take place at the stage on Saturday evening.
At the Info stand you can sign up for open mic session, crash courses courses and workshops. You can also buy tickets for the lottery, buttons and get answers to any questions you may have. You can pay by card or Vipps.
